Conference Review
Carers Profile
Wirral Carers Alliance (WCA) held the first ‘Commitment to Carers’ (CtC) Conference on
Wednesday 11 June 2025 at the Floral Pavilion, New Brighton.
We welcomed 322 Carers to the event that had pre-booked (profile included) and over 50 Carers that walked in on the day to explore support.
Carers Status
Just under ¾ of the attendees recorded as visitors currently having caring responsibilities and 83% of members were Carers, Previously Carers or unsure whether their caring responsibilities meant they were officially a Carer.
This meant we were able to support 267 Carers with advice and resources to support themselves to live well, continue with their caring role and assistance whether caring now or where their caring role had come to an end and they needed to make meaningful connections.
Of the Carers 55 attending that had indicated ‘NO’ to being a Carer, we explored why they attended the conference. We ascertained that some visiting in fact had caring responsibilities and they went away now identifying as a Carer, receiving vital information and referrals. Other visitors felt equipped with resources that are available to help them support their family members or friends with caring responsibilities and/or potential future caring responsibilities of their own.
WCA continue to contact all attendees, with or without current caring responsibilities, to promote the WCA, the Carer Forums and opportunities to actively participate in shaping services and support for Carers on Wirral.
