Social Prescribing
The Wirral Social Prescribing Scheme is designed to help people address issues affecting their health and well-being, such as loneliness, stress, managing long-term conditions, or emotional challenges.
It operates by linking individuals with Social Prescribing Link Workers, who are trained professionals working alongside GPs and other healthcare providers to offer practical, personalised support.
The scheme is open to Wirral residents aged 18 and over, and you do not need to be a patient at a GP practice to access it

PeoplePlus
Proving guidance and support for individuals managing direct payments, helping them control their own care and personal budgets.
What Are Direct Payments?
Direct payments are funds provided by local authorities or the NHS to individuals who have been assessed as needing care and support services.
Instead of the council arranging care directly, individuals receive money to manage their own care, giving them flexibility and control over how their needs are met. This can include hiring a personal assistant, purchasing equipment, or accessing services tailored to personal preferences.
The amount is based on a personal budget determined by an assessment of care needs and financial circumstances

Dementia Action Week 2026 focuses on raising awareness, supporting those affected, and encouraging collective action against dementia.
With nearly 1 million people living with dementia in the UK, Dementia Action Week plays a crucial role in reducing isolation, improving understanding, and promoting early diagnosis.
Participation helps build a society that recognises and supports people living with dementia, their families, and Carers

Dementia Action Week is an annual campaign led by the Alzheimer’s Society in the UK, aimed at raising awareness, challenging stigma, and fostering a dementia-friendly society where people living with dementia can feel understood and supported.

The campaign brings together individuals, communities, and organisations to take meaningful action, share stories, and advocate for better care and research.
The focus is also on dementia diagnosis, educating the public about common symptoms and the importance of early detection, which can improve quality of life and access to support.
